UW Campus Utility Plant - Translucent Wall

UW Campus Utility Plant - Translucent Wall

Project ID: 41330
The 100-year old West Campus Utility Plant, which provides water and emergency power to the University of Washington's Seattle campus, needed an upgrade that not only improved the facility's aesthetics, but that showcased the school's commitment to sustainability. 19,000 sq. ft. of our UniQuad® translucent wall system was installed to create the attractive feature the University was looking for, while maximizing natural light levels and reducing glare and heat-gain within the facility. The system, specified in ice white matte and clear matte glazing, transforms the building at night into a glowing beacon to draw visitors in from around the campus and community - all while hiding the equipment inside from view. The facility is the first Envision Gold-certified higher education building in the US, which is similar to LEED certification, and won the 2018 Project of the Year award from the American Public Works Association.
