Seattle Public Utilities Transfer Station - Translucent Skylight

Project ID: 29639
A national leader in waste management, Seattle Public Utilities strives to reduce the amount generated within the City. The SPU Transfer Station was created for Seattle to experiment with new approaches to waste-handling with innovative recycling and composting programs, and features 27,750 sq. ft. of our Quadwall® translucent skylight system to further its sustainability efforts and zero-waste goals. Specified in ice white matte glazing, our skylight system provides an abundance of daylight within the facility to ensure daytime operations are effective without the use of artificial lighting, while creating a unique aesthetic for the building's exterior in the process. The Station won the 2014 AIA Civic Design Honor Award and has achieved LEED Gold certification for its Green strategies and features.
