Madison 14 Fire Station - Translucent Wall System
Project 45300
In a fire emergency, Madison residents on the city's far-southeast side used to have to wait ten to fifteen minutes for emergency services to arrive. Hoping to drastically cut this time to five minutes or less, the city approved a $6.4 million dollar brand new fire station that doubles as the main hub for training in the area. The Madison 14 Fire Station provides space for a double company and medical unit, a space to conduct various Recruit Testing and Training Evaluations, and a meeting space for community and educational events. 2,630 sq. ft. of our UniQuad® translucent wall system, specified in ice white matte glazing, was installed at the station to offer the health benefits associated with daylighting, which was at the forefront of the facility's design. Our translucent panels provide firefighters on duty with optimal light levels to reduce stress, improve concentration and promote positive emotional functioning, while offering additional insulation for the building itself in the harsh Madison winters. The station was awarded LEED Platinum certification for its sustainable efforts and materials.
