MUSEUM OF FLIGHT BRIDGE CANOPY

THE CHALLENGE:  Provide a vaulted translucent canopy to cover an enclosed walkway bridge over a busy road.  The free span bridge structure is 14’ wide and 350’ long with a camber along the length. The design concept required no aluminum structure exposed to the pedestrian’s view.

THE SOLUTION:  CPI Daylighting designed a custom hanging aluminum vaulted canopy frame running the length of the walkway, including hidden glazing rafters every 6’ to adjust for the camber in the 350’ long bridge structure.  Clear Pentaglas® glazing enhances the open walkway design and fills the walkway with pleasant natural daylight.  The back-lit translucent walkway system over the highway provides a signature beacon for the Museum of Flight by night.

BENEFITS OF CPI DAYLIGHTING CUSTOM TRANSLUCENT WALKWAY SYSTEMS

CPI Daylighting custom translucent walkway systems are a bright solution to the problems inherent in metal canopies:
a dark and unpleasant industrial appearance, "closed in" feeling and constant maintenance requirements.

CPI Daylighting translucent canopies are attractive and affordable systems, without the high cost
and safety concerns associated with glass, acrylic and fiberglass systems.

CPI Daylighting's Pentaglas® Nano-Cell® glazing technology provides pleasant diffused
natural daylight into the space below the canopy and a durable reliable shelter.
